Week 5 is over. This past week we continued working on our writing process poster. We also had time to complete our mandala design. Both of these projects will be complete by the end of next Friday. This week we will present our posters to the class and will review the writing process. In addition, we weren't able to review the quick check last week, so we will make some time for that this week. Last week, we also completed a writer's survey so I could learn more about you as a writer. On Wednesday night, I had the opportunity to meet some of your parents. It was a pleasure to meet them. Finally, we finished the week pre-reading "Liberty," by Julia Alvarez. We went over the vocabulary, read the first and last paragraphs, and made some notes about the selection before we begin reading.
Writing Prompts:
1. Write a reflection on your mandala. Did you finish it? Why or why not? Are you happy with the symbols you selected? What did you do well, and what do you need to improve?
2. Describe a room or somewhere else you know intimately.
3. Write a letter to your parents/guardians telling them everything you have learned in English so far.
4. Do you have a pet? Why or why not? Describe your pet.
5. What's it like working with your group? Are they quiet, or talkative? Are they helpful and participative? Explain.
Good job this week writers. I am looking forward to your mandala's final draft and presentation.
Mr. J.
